herbalist tips
bag the botanicals: a muslin bag keeps petals from sticking to your skin and clogging the drain.
steep it first: let the bag steep under the running water while the tub fills for a deeper floral infusion.
make it a gift: layer the salt and flowers in a clear jar, tie with twine, and add a muslin bag for a pretty handmade gift.
finish with tea: sip a warm cup of chamomile while you soak to round out the ritual.
good to know
for external use only. always blend essential oils into a carrier oil before adding them to the bath, since undiluted oils float on the surface and can irritate the skin. avoid eucalyptus around young children. if you're sensitive to ragweed, daisies, or marigolds, patch test first, because chamomile and calendula belong to the same plant family. do not use on broken or irritated skin, and step out of the tub carefully, as surfaces may be slippery. if you are pregnant or nursing, check with your healthcare provider before using essential oils.
