herbalist tips
don't skip the pepper: a tiny pinch of black pepper is a traditional pairing with turmeric and rounds out the flavor.
add a little fat: turmeric is traditionally enjoyed with a bit of fat, so try a creamier milk or a tiny spoonful of coconut oil.
avoid clumps: mix the spices into a splash of warm milk to make a paste before adding the rest.
watch for stains: turmeric can tint countertops, mugs, and clothing, so wipe spills quickly.
good to know
if you are pregnant, nursing, taking blood thinners or diabetes medication, or have gallbladder concerns, check with your healthcare provider before using turmeric. honey should not be given to children under 1 year old. choose a nut-free milk if you have tree nut allergies.
