herbalist tips
cover while steeping: a lid or saucer over your mug holds in the soft floral aroma of the rose.
bring out the berry: for a richer elderberry flavor, simmer the elderberries in the water for 5 to 10 minutes first, then pour over the remaining herbs to steep.
make it iced: brew a double-strength cup, let it cool, and pour over ice with a lemon slice.
pair it with a ritual: brew a cup before journaling and let the steeping time be your moment to settle in.
good to know
never eat dried elderberries raw, and always use just-boiled water when steeping them. if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have an autoimmune condition, check with your healthcare provider before using red raspberry leaf or elderberry. honey should not be given to children under 1 year old.
